Astrocartography
Astrocartography, also known as Relocation Astrology, is a travel-based astrology practice that uses a person's birth chart to map out the world and determine the best places to live, work, and visit.
What is Astrocartography?
Astrocartography charts are made up of planetary lines, or paths across the globe, created by the sun, moon, and each planet. The lines indicate where each planet was at its most powerful at the time of the person's birth. The goal is to discover which places on Earth resonate most with the person, and the places that fall on lines or line intersections are thought to be more meaningful and transformative.
History
Astromapping has existed in Vedic astrology throughout history, the astrocartography practice taking off online was pioneered by American astrologer Jim Lewis, with his foundational 1997 text The Psychology of Astro*Carto*Graphy. Jim’s astrology used only the most basic and established theories. In working with angular planets, he followed the tradition of Ptolemy and the Chaldeans, focusing on visible celestial bodies in visible locations: planets rising, setting and at the midheaven.
