Spiritual Counselling

Spiritual Counselling is a mode of healing that looks at an individual’s beliefs and values, and in which there is typically a longing for meaning larger than the individual self. Spiritual counsellors can help clients reconnect the soul with the body and mind, helping them to explore the deeper facets of emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

What is Spiritual Counselling?

A spiritual counsellor brings a holistic approach to their practice, taking account of each person's soul and essence, rather than just their cognitive conditions. Each therapist will have an awareness of cross-cultural methods, working to bring each client closer to their soul and further away from their ego.

History

The earliest traces of what could be considered as counselling in its contemporary sense could be found in the Vedas and the Upanishads, the sages in the Talmud, the leaders of religious or spiritual communities, or anyone who attempts to answer the larger questions of life regarding meaning and purpose. Upon the establishment of psychotherapy over the 1900s, spiritual counselling was created. Spiritual counselling works to unify modern day techniques with spiritual healing and other modalities.
